I recently visited http://www.speedtest.net/index.php, which allows one to test how fast one’s connection to the internet is.
I have a 384 kb/s adsl connection from Telkom and these are the stats that I got:

and we wonder why our broadband situation is such a mess

I read a very interesting article in the Sunday Times this morning – it’s an interview with SA’s Director General of Communications, Lyndall Shope-Mafole.
From the article it seems obvious that the DG is more interested in rhetoric than actually tackling SA’s bandwidth situation.
